KWALHIA SELECTION : A SIRIUS TRANS/MISSIONS

Using magic lantern slides and DIY snow globes made with glycerin, this lockdown film journeys into winter. The sadness of the soundtrack - written by two strangers working together remotely during lockdown - is echoed by the film's splintered, chilly nostalgia. Rather than digital effects, it uses hand-held analogue overlays - combining slides, torches, and globes - to shimmer between 2D and 3D worlds, suggesting an alternative space and time in memory.
